Dental HYGIENE

At The Brace Orthodontic Practice, we don’t just focus on your teeth - we make sure your gums are healthy too! Our resident Periodontist, Dr Dominiki Chatzopoulou, alongside our hygienist Iqra Ishfaq offer private sessions to help treat gum disease in our orthodontic patients and keep your mouth as healthy as can be.

For most of us, brushing and flossing isn’t always enough as it can be quite difficult to reach some areas, therefore regular appointments with a hygienist are needed.

Plaque and tartar may lead to gum disease and subsequently tooth loss. There are some evidence that this could lead to heart disease.

DentalHygiene Service

Clean teeth are essential for an attractive smile and they also help us to look and feel great about ourselves. No matter how good your brushing is, most of us will get some build-up of tartar.

Tartar can only be removed by a dental professional using specialist equipment. It is a form of deep clean. Brushing and flossing isn’t always enough and regular appointments with a hygienist are needed to maintain your smile.

Tartar build up on your teeth can lead to gum disease which causes tooth loss. Gum disease has been proven to be associated with many medical conditions including heart disease if not treated for a long period of time.

Regular visits to the hygienist not only help to keep your teeth long term but also contribute to your medical wellbeing. For some of us, we would need one session once every 3–6 months.

Ultrasonic scaling is the gold standard in the dental industry which costs £90 per session on both arches.
